What is Drydock?

Every year, the Logos Hope must dock out of the water in order to complete heavy maintenance. (For scale I’ve marked a man in the red circle)

It lasts for a month and is probably the most intense part of ship life. Every day, people work their socks off trying to sort everything and make everything seaworthy.
However, during dry dock, only certain departments stay onboard; Deck, Engine, Angels (Cleaners) and Catering. These departments really go through the worst of it and I really admire what they can do during dry dock.

Bookfair and various other departments all leave the ship during dry dock; they won’t be useful and there isn’t any room for them.

So where do they go?
They go on one of three special teams, called ‘Challenge Teams’, ‘Presentation Teams’ or ‘Follow-Up Teams’.
Challenge Teams jet around the world to developing countries to provide Knowledge, Help and Hope to those that need it.
Presentation Teams go to developed countries and do presentations to try to drum up support for the ship.
Follow-Up Teams go to places that the ship has been before and help the churches in the area take the next step, whatever that might be.

I will be going on a Challenge Team, but I will talk about that next time.
