Today was the last day in Valparaiso and so myself and 5 others decided to take the opportunity to visit Santiago for the day.

The capital city is just over 1 hour away by bus, so the journey wasn’t too long. On the way we got some great views of the Chilean countryside.

Once arrived we got some ‘Vanilla and Chocolate’ ice cream, but in reality the flavours were mango and coffee.

We headed for the mall in the centre of town, but found a Chinese-themed shop along the way. The chinos (Spanish name for Chinese) were very happy about finding some noodles.

When we got to the mall, on of our party, Alex from Guatemala, knew someone who worked for Bayer (the pharmaceutical company). We were given special access to the company’s office and saw some spectacular views. The company was located in the tallest building in Latin America.

After that I explored the mall with my Guatemalan friend Sara. We saw many things, but ultimately bought nothing as it was too expensive.

We travelled in the Santiago metro, which on the way back was especially hot and stuffy.

The bulk of the trip took place aboard a chain of buses called Pullman Bus. The interiors were very nice.

I will leave you with some further pictures of Santiago.
