Today the Logos Hope departed from Punta Arenas, marking the end of my time in Chile.

Truly I have enjoyed my time here immensely, thus I would like to take this time to look back over the past two months and the four ports that I have visited.

First off, Antofagasta. The mall being so close to the port was very convenient, leading to some good memories:

The sun there was very strong, and I did indeed get sunburnt one day. I was much more careful after that.

The second port was Valparaiso, a military port. The city was beautiful with rolling hills and colourful suburbs.

I also got the chance to visit Santiago, and receive the privilege of one of the best views in town.

The third port was Liquern. The seaside towns were very sleepy, but the action in the Bookfair was very hectic. Over 5000 people came onboard every day, a taxing two weeks to be sure.

We had to meticulously plan our days out, as the transport system employed by the port was very restrictive. Even so, the area around the port was well worth planning for.

The fourth and final port is Punta Arenas. At the end of the world, the weather was cold, bleak and awesome. Travelling through the Channels and the Straight of Magellan was truly an experience to remember.

The scenery was majestic and the city full of monuments. At every street corner there was a memorial to some kind of special event.

Chile is a magnificent country, tremendously diverse in geography and atmosphere. The Ships ministry has had an immense effect on the people and I can see how much of an impact this has had on the visitors. Many people had accepted Christ for the first time and others have become motivated to serve Christ through mission. Indeed many Chileans have been mobilised to travel overseas on missions to the least reached and we could see many Chilean missionaries in North Africa, the Middle East and India. I can only wish the best for this amazing country in the future…

Cheerio Chile!
