Today was my third Connect Day (C-Day). I have a C-Day once a week, where I spend the day connecting with people.

The previous C-Days I spent on Deck 4 (the International Cafe) but I didn’t take any photos.

Today I went into the nearby town of Punca along with 6 others to spread awareness of the Logos.

Despite my Spanish being very limited, it’s also good that I can share my faith and the love of Jesus too.  I guess actions speak louder than words.

We got a bus into the town, but it was very bumpy and rickety.

Our main base of operations was a plaza not far from the sea. It was very beautiful, but also quite quiet, a welcome change from hectic Valparaiso.

I wore a sign saying ‘Ensename Español’ (Teach Me Spanish) and got many willing people to help me learn. Another sign read ‘Abrazos Gratis’ (Free Hugs). We received many.

A gentleman owning a snacks kiosk was very interested in the ship and gave us free popcorn!

After this we had lunch, eating a whole load of seafood empanadas (effectively Chileans Pasties). They were delicious and we were able to connect with the owners; they were Christian and we prayed together after the meal.

In the afternoon we visited a hospital and we were given special treatment, even meeting the director of the hospital. It was quite an honour and truly the generosity was incredible. We found out that the whole town of Penco was anticipating the arrival of the Logos Hope and was very exciting to come aboard!

After such an amazing day we headed back to the Logos, tired, but excited for the coming fortnight.
