Bookfair – Gangway

The Gangway is the way on and off the ship, and there are two positions associated with it; Gangway Top (GWT) and Gangway Bottom (GWB).

GWB deals with people embarking the ship. I have a clicker to record how many people enter the ship as well as a radio.

If families come with a pram I also have tools to deal with that. GWB can also be the primary conduit between the Whitehouse and Shift-leaders (the guys in charge)

The position is also a great place to be friendly, saying ‘Hola, Bienvanidos’ (Hello, Welcome). I have received many a ‘Gracias’ from this.

GWT is also a good place to be friendly, as there isn’t much else to do.
The position focuses on making sure that the visitors leave in an orderly fashion and don’t take photos (which they often do, to everyone’s annoyance).

Thus, there is ample opportunity for a ‘Buenos Dias/Tardes’ (Good day/afternoon) or a ‘Caio, Hasta Luego’ (Bye, until next time).

I get a lot of handshakes from those leaving, obviously elated from their visit and this is always encouraging.

Overall both positions are decent and are always good for general friendliness and kindness.
I will leave you with a beautiful sunset I witnessed last night.
