Today was my day off and I explored the city of Antofagasta with many people from Short Term Exposure Programme (STEP). Antofagasta is surrounded by dramatic mountains and is beautiful to look at from a distance…

I visited some ruins of an old silver foundry. The foundry was built in 1892, but had since become disused, turning the once mighty structure into the decrepit ruins that we see today. They were very impressive to look at!

Chile was once known for its silver, but since then, its economy has become more focused on salts and business. I visited a nearby mall a few times and I must say, it was quite impressive.

Antofagasta also has a small beach, which is a nice place to relax.

However, the area is quite hot and there is a hole in the Ozone layer above the city, meaning that there is a large chance for cancer if you get burnt badly.

Even still, it is quite a nice city with plenty of things to see.
