5 days to go… ‘What am I actually doing?’

Today is 5 days before I leave the country to embark aboard the Logos Hope!
I thought that I’d use this countdown as an opportunity to explain what I’ll actually be up to during my time away from the U.K.
Therefore, for the next 5 days, I’ll be informing you all about various parts of my trip and hopefully answering the many questions that I am yet to answer.
Today’s is…
‘What am I actually doing?’
Earlier this year I finished my A-Levels and rather than go on straight to University, I decided to take a Gap Year. I wanted to achieve two things in my time away from academic studies; see the world and get closer to God.
The Logos Hope provided both of these things.
The Logos Hope is a Christian Mercy ship owned by Operation Mobilisation (OM) with the stated goal of ‘seeing vibrant communities of Jesus followers among the least reached’. It is the world’s largest floating book fair and houses over 350 people. But I will elaborate more about the Logos Hope tomorrow.
I will be leaving the U.K. on January 15th and joining the Logos Hope on January 17th in Antofagasta, Chile. The ship will then travel down the South American coast, through the Straight of Magellan and up the eastern side of South America before leaving the ship on April 22nd. I will explain more about my journey at 3 days to go.
While aboard the Ship I will do 5 days of work (at least 8 hours a day), one day off and one day performing ministry (spiritual Christian service/work). There will be opportunities to visit the ports that I am staying in, which I am particularly looking forward to. There are also other activities aboard the ship, but I will clarify this at 2 days to go.
I will try every effort to keep you updated with my time aboard the Logos Hope with (hopefully) daily blog posts and other updates on Facebook. I will explain this and how to support me in more detail at one day to go.
Finally I’d like to thank everybody who has supported me thus far. I really appreciate what you all have done and I can only hope that I can provide content that will at least be satisfactory.
